Partial Hospitalization Program Serving New Haven, CT
New Haven has extensive hospital, university, and outpatient resources, but adults may still need a bridge between standard appointments and inpatient treatment. Waterview’s PHP is delivered in Wallingford, approximately 15 minutes north via I-91, and provides structured weekday care while participants return home outside program hours.
PHP may support an adult stepping down after hospitalization or stepping up when symptoms and daily functioning require more frequent clinical contact. An individualized assessment determines whether this intensity is appropriate.

A Structured, Evidence-Based PHP
PHP offers a defined weekday structure for New Haven-area adults whose needs exceed what a standard outpatient schedule can provide. Group treatment, individual support, skill rehearsal, and care coordination are organized around shared goals. Psychiatric support, including a general medication review when necessary, is integrated with therapeutic interventions.
The clinical team may use CBT, DBT, trauma-informed care, or EMDR when clinically appropriate. Services are selected through assessment and reviewed as symptoms, functioning, and transition readiness change.

Dedicated Treatment Tracks
The care plan may emphasize different needs identified during assessment:
Mental Health Focus — Repeated therapeutic contact for symptoms that interfere with daily functioning and stability.
Recovery Focus — Structured support for substance use concerns, relapse risk, and recovery outside program hours.
Integrated Focus — Coordinated treatment when mental health and substance use concerns affect one another.

Why New Haven Residents Choose Waterview
New Haven-area referrals often involve transitions across hospitals, campus or community supports, and outpatient practices. With the participant’s permission, Waterview can coordinate with those providers so goals and discharge recommendations align. PHP treatment takes place at Waterview’s Wallingford location; it is not a New Haven facility.
The admissions process reviews clinical fit, transportation, support outside treatment hours, insurance requirements, and expected next steps. That review helps avoid placing someone in a program that is either too intensive or not intensive enough.
