Teo-Carlo Straun, M.D.
Medical Director
Dr. Straun is board-certified in General Psychiatry and Addiction Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He earned his Medical Degree from Rutgers Medical School, completed his residency in Adult Psychiatry at the University of Medicine & Dentistry, and further specialized with a fellowship in Addiction Psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine, where he now serves as a Research Scientist and Lecturer in Psychiatry.
Dr. Straun’s practice, Straun Health & Wellness, integrates mental, physical, and spiritual health, emphasizing overall wellness as crucial for quality of life. His services include psychiatric evaluation, psychotherapy, medical management, motivational enhancement therapy, auricular acupuncture, and other holistic recovery models for mental illness and substance use disorders. Committed to community service, Dr. Straun played a pivotal role in the Barbershop Health Network, a project aimed at reducing health disparities for men of color. He is also involved in various academic and clinical roles, including as a Trauma Training Specialist for the Connecticut Judicial Branch.
Dr. Straun’s professional passion is connecting with patients and communities to enhance mental health and wellness. His numerous invited lectures, publications, and professional service reflect his extensive contributions to mental health and addiction psychiatry. Through his clinical practice, teaching, and outreach initiatives, he remains an influential voice in addressing mental health issues, especially within underserved communities.
